I just walkd through TSA at DSM, forgot my plastic bag at the hotel and the TSA didn't have any, they looked at my toothpaste shaving cream and hair gel, said bc I didn't have a plastic bag they couldn't go through with me. I said what ever dumb thing was they gave back the hair gel. I never realized the plastic bag was such a protector of everyone on a plane

Try sticking a knife through one. They make excellent shields. ;)

If you had kept quit, they might have never noticed. I have more than once forgotten my bag in my carry-on.

Same here. I haven't bothered taking them out of my carry-on in the last two years and no TSA officer has ever asked me to pull them out.

Same here. It has been years since I took out my plastic bag, Either in the USA or Europe/Asia

I just worry about the cupcake frosting I take thru security. :)

    It's not a plastic bag, it's a Freedom Baggie.

All of you people must be going through the right airports. Just enough stations make a big deal out of it that I just go ahead and pull it out.

In my experience, it tends to be the smaller stations (like DSM and CMH)which tend to be more adamant about sticking to the rules, real or imagined.

In the past two years I've been asked to take it out exactly twice -- at YKM and bizarrely enough once at DCA, my home airport that i travel through constantly. One day they announced they were getting a bug about it, but then never asked again.
