This morning we issued a press release announcing the re-opening of Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Following a $275 million redesign and revitalization, the hotel features 1,193 guest rooms and suites, 200,000 square feet of meeting and event space and expansive food and beverage offerings. The re-opening of this landmark hotel, centrally located downtown adjacent to the Mercedes Benz Superdome, marks one of the most significant hospitality redevelopments in the city in over a decade.

Great news! I wish I could have stayed there instead of two sleepless nights at the Marriott.

What was wrong with the Marriott? And why two sleepless nights? After one you could have checked out!

Is this the Hyatt that's right on the river walk, between that and the Alamo?

Not on the River Walk if it is by the Superdome...

Thanks. I have no idea where the superdome is (but sounds like no where near the river). The river walk area is the only place I know and then not much.

It smelled awful in the elevators. The room was adjacent to the housekeeping room. There was almost no noise insulation in the walls (I could hear the elevator chime five doors down). Housekeeping didn't come until 3:30. I was charged for water that was never in the room when I checked in. The staff seemed pretty ambivalent. It was a prepaid rate, and I wasn't convinced that if I moved to another room anything would improve.

Having been to both San Antonio and New Orleans this year, I can confirm that they are different cities. ;)

I assume you are speaking the River Walk in New Orleans and not San Antonio ?:) If the former, then it is not near the River Walk at all ... given, however, you said the Alamo ... you have the wrong city -- sorry :)

HA! Joke's on me! I've had San Antonio on my mind, having been casually working on a trip to there, and completely missed that the Hyatt was in NOLA. Mea culpa!

It must be time for cocktails.....please!

Looking forward to visiting this hotel! I drove past the Hyatt shortly after Katrina and was shocked at the level of devastation! :( I'm sure it will be much better than the Lowes :)
