Had an impromptu stay here in mid-Dec 2012 (my first at a Hyatt for over two years). Have Platinum status through MP. Short report follows:

I booked this hotel using the iPhone app when I arrived at Hakata Station: walked there and less than ten minutes later checked in. They had all my details and checked me in very smoothly.

One personal peeve is hotels asking foreign residents of Japan for ID (unnecessary under current law as only applies to visitors): the staff here were extremely well-trained, asking just a casual 'do you live in Japan?'. Kudos to the Hyatt Regency for getting that right :)

    The good:

-great location in a quiet neighborhood about 5-10 minutes walk from Hakata Station
    -comfortable, quiet, stylish room
    -good bathroom amenities
-very stylish design, both outside (esp. the lobby) and the inner courtyard round design thing

    The bad:

-slightly showing wear: carpets a bit faded, in room stationary slightly crumpled
-no complimentary amenities: no water, no biscuits, nothing (even the drip coffee cups provided cost 370 yen!)
-absolutely no view (from my room on the 7th floor): a rooftop and a nearby industrial-looking building

A very solid hotel for a business trip, but I would probably stay elsewhere if on holiday.

I am a Platinum member, which I think gets me free internet only. I don't think I received an upgrade and no perks were mentioned. Mid-tier status currently seems weak compared to SPG or Hilton...
