I have my first ever Hyatt stay coming up next week and need some help deciding if I should start racking up Hyatt GP points or transfer to AA miles... Here are some points:
    • I have four nights (2 different properties) next week, and three nights (OWMD) in January
    • I'm currently Diamond (challenge), but I'm not sure yet if I'll be Diamond during the OWMD (my challenge started prior than the OWMD one... unsure if they'll extend mine). I likely won't be able to make the required qualification to keep Diamond
    • The 5000 points for 3 nights won't help me next week.
    • I registered for the promo to get 1500 AA miles per stay
    • If I receive GP points, I get 5 points per $ spent, plus 30% as a Diamond
    • If I receive AA miles, it is normally 500 per stay, but the promo makes it 1500 per stay.
So, for my two stays next week (corp rates, <$150/night), I can either get 3000 AAdv miles or approx 3500 GP points (or 5500 GP points with the 1000 point Diamond amenity if offered at a Sierra Suites). Unfortunately, I can't pay for my stays with my Hyatt Visa (company policy mandates corp amex), so no extra points that way.

Since my current GP balance is 0, I don't have a lot of Hyatt stays planned, and I don't anticipate winning any of the Hyatt Facebook 100K GP points contests, I think it's probably better to just take the lesser AAdvantage miles, which I do use.

    Is my logic flawed?

Just a data point- my 1500 AA miles from a 11/15-11/18 stay posted in 4 days (2 business days). 500 was dated at check-in, 1000 was dated at check-out.

Still waiting for my 11/14-11/15 miles... they showed up on hyatt.com a few days late (had to email GP reps) but hopefully they'll be in my AA account by Friday.
