    Hi,

I've never used these before, what's the difference between the card and check other than domestic vs. global use? Can a card be used multiple times if one stay doesn't use up the whole amount? What about checks? Thanks!

Gift check certificates have to be used entirely in one visit. Most people usually get a lot of them, but in small denominations. Gift cards can be used multiple times.

Gift checks also expire in 15 months compared to gift cards which don't expire.

"No. Hyatt Gift Cards and Check Certificates purchased by individual consumers do not expire. Check Certificates received as part of a loyalty, incentive or award, or distributed to an individual other than directly from Hyatt may have an expiration date. See front of check certificate for expiration."

Since this is in the Premium Membership section: Gift Certificates through Milepoint expire in 15 months. Didn't want to go in more detail and confuse anyone as it applies to the P2 benefits.

You can find that in the Award Store - let me know if you don't see it there. Gift cards don't expire.

Yes. They're mostly like money. A few people have ordered a TON of $25 gift checks for that reason. Some others have ordered a larger Gift Card and then a few Gift Checks for just international use.

Is there a way we can order gift check and gift cards within the same order to save on handling?

If they're ordered back to back I'll put them on the same order

Thanks Mark! I just placed an order.. Would like to use the gift card for a stay over memorial weekend. Not sure how long it takes for the card to arrive, is there any chance that you can expedite the order? Thanks again!

It will process and ship today. The only expediting is with the shipping (increased cost), but it should definitely get to you this week. Plenty of time before Memorial weekend!

I just used both gift checks and gift cards in New Orleans. They basically function the same in the US. Gift cards I think are more convenient and , at least, at the Hyatt Regency they are better understood than gift checks.

Never mind! Missed the dropdown for picking checks vs. cards.

Just add shipping on top of that. You would pay $4,506 for a $5,000 gift card if you live in the US.

That's disappointing. I bought some from Hyatt direct during their 10% off sale in December, and they had no expiration date.

I'm about to order these - how can I tell if I'm getting the cards or the checks? I'd prefer the cards. Is it by denomination?

Best way is to go to the Award Store and check out all the options beforehand. Gift Cards are the default and there is a drop down to change it to Gift Checks. It's by denominations.

There is a weird coding glitch with the position... sorry about that.

Finally, has there been confirmation that the OPEN 5% works with these?

Gift cards are the better option for Hyatt gift checks. I used a combination of the gift checks and a gift card I ordered through this site to pay for my and my sister's room at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans this year. The front desk had some confusion on gift checks but that was easily resolved by the manager. They basically work just like gift cards.

    And . . . my 5% credit just arrived.

    Very, very solid deal!

If the gift cards worked everywhere, that might be true. They are only valid in North America and Caribbean, I think.
