I have the Hyatt Chase visa card and like it very much. One of the benefits is that it gives you 3 GP points per $ spent in Hyatt Hotels. So of course I always use the card at Hyatt properties.

One problem that I keep running into is that not all Hotels do business as a PH, GH, HR etc. on their credit-card machine/receipt. Often in China (and other locations?) the Hyatt Hotels are owned by companies and they do business in their own name. But it is actually a Hyatt Hotel I am staying at.

So I have to contact Chase because I am missing out on 2/3 of my GP points. Often this is a lengthily and time consuming process. It would be good if Hyatt and Hyatt GP could get a list together of their properties and how they do business and pass this on to Chase. At present I am waiting for 2 stays to be credited correctly with 3 GP point per $ spent and not 1 GP point as general purchases.

The Chase customer service people (that deal with these kind of issues) need help from Hyatt. How could they know? Most likely they do not have highest Hyatt status, stay at these Hotels dozens of nights or understand the GP program and that GP points matter (to me).

Hyatt GP kindly please add that to your list of new years resolutions that need to be addressed. ;-) Than you!

Have you run into these kind of problems as well?

Btw., I have the same issues with other Hotel credit cards as well, especially in certain countries.

Yes, I famously had similar problems with the Citi Reserve HHonors visa. Things got so bad that I got rid of the card. I now just have the AMEX Surpass HHonors card, which has a foreign transaction fee, but is highly reliable with respect to posting the points correctly and it awards 12 points/$ for stays at HHonors properties, which somewhat offsets the forex fee.

After you posted, I decided to check my statements for the Chase Hyatt visa to see if something like you described has happened to me without my noticing. In all cases but one (Park Hyatt Seoul) the Hyatt hotel name appeared in the statement. The statement entry for the one exception, Park Hyatt Seoul, is shown below:

Chase-Hyatt-CC.jpg As you can see, Park Hyatt Seoul appears to be owned by Hyundai, the car company, which is doing business as Park Hyatt Seoul (I added the dba PH Seoul in red above by hand). Even though the merchant was Hyundai, I did get 3 points/$ for the stay (the stays at Hyatt Regency Montreal and PH Seoul x 3 points/$ = 4,073 points), suggesting that there may be another way (merchant code?) for Chase to determine if a purchase qualifies as a Hyatt purchase. Hyundai is definitely not the same as Park Hyatt Seoul, meaning there exists a code that links the two names...

Glad you got and seem to get the correct # of points. Because of you I started checking my Citi HH card as well and found quite a few discrepancies. Since then I always check if I get the x5 points for direct airline purchases and x10 for Hilton. I guess one has to keep these Hotel -CC partnerships accountable. Btw. I have also had simlar problems with Airlines. Once I did not get double miles for Star alliance purchases on my Chase United card flying Asiana. But one can quickly proof that OZ is part of Star.

Again I am not receiving the proper point credit for a charge at a Hyatt Hotel (this time in India) using the Hyatt Chase card.

I had a reservation at the Hyatt Place Hampi in India. My Chase Hyatt credit card was charged. I should be getting 3 HGP points per $ for this transaction. However the Chase Hyatt credit card for some reason unknown to me does not recognize this as a Hyatt property so I only got 1 point per $. This property does business as "Chartered Hampi Hotels Torannagahu. Hyatt GP in cooperation with Chase should make sure that the correct amount of points gets credited. There are not THAT MANY Hyatt properties in the world, so it should be rather simple.

    Good Morning Thomask,

I am very sorry to hear of this issue. I have forwarded this on to our Management Team in charge of handling our Visa Chase Credit Card issues. I will be back in touch as soon as they let me know of their findings.

    Thanks!

I stayed at the NewYork-NewYork HOTEL & CASINO (M Life) in Las Vegas earlier this month. My monthly statement will close on May 3, but my Posted Activity for this month already shows it as 1 pp$ for "all other transactions!" I intend to phone Chase tomorrow to ask for 3x points esp. because I could have used my Sapphire for 2x at "any hotel!"
