I joined the Blue Bird band wagon back in late November and I saved every vanilla reload card with the corresponding receipt in case there was an issue. I am now left with a lot of used vanilla cards and am not sure if there is a certain way to dispose of them. I would prefer not to put them all through my dinky little shredder. Can I just recycle them? Or cut them in half and throw them in the garbage? I will do whatever is necessary to make sure I am not setting myself up for problems in the future.

In addition, is there a need for me to save the cards and receipts? Or can I dispose of them once I load them and they show up in my bluebird account?

Once they're empty, they're empty. Just trash 'em.

What do you do with gift cards after you use up their entire value? Your answer should be the same with VR cards. Once they've been loaded to BB successfully, there's really no reason to hang onto them.

Best Buy has a gift card recycling bin at the entrance.

I use old gift cards/credit cards for lots of things (e.g. shims -- used one to fill a gap between car panels to keep them from rattling) but by far the most common use for me is as scrapers! They're great for getting crud off a floor without scratching it, for smoothing putty or for cleaning up stuff baked onto a pan. Amazingly durable little buggers and disposable when they've worn out.

They also work great for scraping frost or snow off the windshield if you lose your snow scraper! (I tend to misplace my snow scrapers a lot!) :)

I'll have to try the shim idea sometime! Lol

I've set up a little filing system in a shoe box. I note to which account I loaded the vr.

I have a few months of used cards saved up...unless space is an issue, I thought it would be good to hold on to them for a while (not yet specified what "a while" means) lest Vanilla somehow have an issue and try to retroactively cancel transactions or something and the reloaded card issuers tried to allege the loads were faulty.

I think this is extremely unlikely (the principal risk is the time between purchase and loading), but if space isn't an issue, having the records for a while can't hurt.

I use my BB for that since it's always in my hand when I need to use the VR.

Like Mantle, Maris and some of the others, I bet those Snider, and Pee Wee Reese cards sounded the best, didn't they? Boy, do I understand that.

Gift cards make awesome impromptu weapons, with a bit of practice. I can throw mine clean thru a medium size watermelon.
