It's late on a Friday afternoon and I've lost my motivation to work... and it occurred to me that frequent flyers might enjoy some really stupid trips that you could do. It started with flights between the same city names, e.g. YQY-SYD (Sydney, NS, CA to Sydney, NSW, AU) but that's actually a trip with some purpose since the cities are across the world from another. Then, it occurred to me? what about YAM-SSM? Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. They are across the border from one another; they're practically the same city. But you can fly it! $1,274 for YAM-YYZ-DTW-SSM. 22.2 km by road, less if you fly. (Which you probably won't want to do after 7:01 in the air to go 22 kilometres.) Nearly as pointless, for $764, you can fly YQG-YYZ-ORD-DTW (or just YQG-YYZ-DTW if you want to be less silly) to go 32.3 km between Windsor airport, Windsor, ON and Detroit Coleman Young Airport in Detroit, MI. Can you find any other pointless air journeys? Might be fun to do one of these, just because - for the miles, of course. There is no other reason to do this other than to say that you did. And these prices are return trips, because you wouldn't want to drive back, would you?
