I'm currently at two, although neither of them was president when I met them.

Met Bill Clinton at a tiny campaign appearance when he was just getting started and no one knew who he was.

Met Jimmy Carter at a book signing (his book, not as if we were both in line for a John Grisham signing or anything).

Rats, Forrest Gump has me by one.

Doesn't count if you don't name them!

    One for me: Ronald Reagan

Eisenhower (got close to him but my memory of him noticing me and
my shaking his hand may be hindsight wishful thinking).

    Bush 1 when he visited my high school as a congressman;
Clinton several times; Bush 2 at some function or other.

    Three:

JFK - age 6, at a speech he gave on the tarmac of the Fresno, California airport. After the speech, he came over to the crowd to shake hands and he touched my outstretched hand.

RWR - As part of a junior high class trip to the Capitol in Sacramento; we were ushered into the then-Governor's ceremonial office. RWR then he came in, made some short remarks, shook hands with many of us, then he was spirited away by his staff.

Same for me, in a rather unique way: on a Saturday in December 2006, I got in line to show my id and card at the ORD H/K Admirals Club. As the person at the check-in desk finished and moved to the elevators, I immediately saw the face that was in the news more and more. I asked the AC agent "is that who I think it was"? She smiled and said that it was; she explained that he was taking a school group of high achievers to an annual youth program in Hawaii. I busied myself on my computer, and after a while, I rose to go to the restroom. As I was finishing my "standing task", the adjacent urinal became occupied ... by the future leader of the free world!! :D :p

Zero. The closest was Hilary when she was running for the Senate. We shook hands and conversed for several minutes.

However, I did share a hotel (Raffles in Singapore) with Queen Elizabeth II for several days and was within five or ten feet of her several times. I also had breakfast with her hairdresser one morning.

    None...I'm Canadian.

But I did have a package of cigarettes from Marine One. I sat next to a young Marine who was assigned to Reagan's detail on a TC. At the end of the flight he offered me a souvenir. I had quit smoking so kept them unopened. I think my wife threw them away when our kids were born.

    1) Eisenhower- but I was only two years old so it cannot really count, and he was not yet President, but I was enamored of him all the rest of his life. So much so that i went to Columbia.
    2) Nixon- he was not in office then, but was at Whittier College for something and my father introduced me. I never forgave him. My father went to college with him.
    3) Ford- in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a Congressman. Not impressed.
    4) Bush, Jr.- Made Ford seem eloquent. he was pushing Dallas sports at the time.
    5) Clinton- was Arkansas Governor when I met him at a Little Rock hotel. He was captivating whether you liked him or not.

I was amazed I had actually met several US Presidents. I have met no Brazilian President. Odd that i have met so many US ones.

Ah, yes. I was there flying in my own plane with a Little Rock resident as my copilot. he intimated that Mr. Clinton had an active personal "social" life. The hotel in question was the famous Little Rock Hotel. Of the ones i met none would have met the standards public life seems to want today. All of them seem flawed, but then, is not everyone? The only two I actually spoke with were "W" and Clinton. Indeed my Clinton encounter did take place at the Capital Hotel. I was told most Arkansas Governors conducted much of their business in the hotel.

Come to think of it...no. I've met a number of those who ran for the job and lost. What does that say about me? Do I only hang with losers?

    4. In order of their presidencies:

Gerald Ford when I was living in Vail in the early 90s.

Ronald Regan at a NFRW event in Denver around 1981/1982. I ended up as page to the head table, so at the same time met George H.W. Bush as well.

George H.W. Bush (see above) plus also during his presidency at the 1992 National Convention in Houston. (Also met Quayle on Air Force 2 flying into EGE, but thankfully he was never president).

George W. Bush during the 1992 election as well. (And Cheney several times here in Colorado in the 90s).

Several GOP nominees over the years as well - Dole & McCain both in the Senate (when I worked there and later).

If you haven't guessed, used to be very active in party politics, at one point holding statewide office. Now just an involved citizen:)

Does Henry Kissinger count for anything? I met him during a summer job when I was a student.

None, but I did meet John Edwards one day 8 or 9 years ago at 30th Street Station in Philly. His plane was canceled due to storms in the area that aternoon so he was waiting for a train.

Met George W Bush at MSP hanger a few years ago. Next day there was a photo of President Bush and me on the front of USA today. My parents were enroute to Florida for the winter and received the paper at their hotel room door somewhere in Alabama. Imagine their surprise when they saw me with Bush. I never did see a copy of that paper.

George HW Bush at a train station on the evening of the 1980 Connecticut primary. He won; it was considered one of his home states back then.

Sarah Palin in Reno last October. Whaddya mean she's not president? Just wait. :p

He only counts if you found his glasses in the toilet (obscure but funny).
