How many miles is that award??

Compare award costs across about a dozen programs with this new tool. Plug in a city pair and it (hopefully accurately) shows the cost of said award from any program that makes such a ticket available.

    Known caveats:
    1) The interface sucks.
    2) AC is the old numbers.
    3) CO=CO or UA

Feedback is welcome. I'm hoping to get it further tweaked in the coming days to something that actually looks good.

Right now there are numbers from about a dozen programs available and more will hopefully be coming soon. In the meantime, I'm interested in how folks think it looks and behaves.

    • Would you rather search specifically for only one-way or return awards?
    • Do you want to see partner awards on the same chart as the "home" metal awards?
    • Would the various classes showing on the same row be better than separate rows?

Any other thoughts/comments are appreciated, too.

awardnexus started off slow and is now a great product...hopefully this will too!

for aa...doesn't appear to account for oneworld awards.
should be able to select date for peak vs. offpeak.

FL has an "any airline" award that can be redeemed for this route if you so choose.

This can definitely be an option.
    Correct as of right now.
That's a bit harder versus just listing both and making it known that the option exists.

    US Airways Dividend Miles
    Continental OnePass
    Delta SkyMiles
    American Airlines AAdvantage
    Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
    Frontier EarlyReturns
    Southwest Rapid Rewards
    Aeroplan
    Asiana Club
    bmi Diamond Club
    Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
    British Airways Executive Club
    Qatar Airways Privilege Club
    Airtran A+ Rewards
    Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles
    Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

    I think.

Great idea. JFK-LHR worked, but no dice for any other city pairs I tried

    A couple of additional questions:
    is this for single segments?
What sort of validation takes place? Is it just published charts (i.e. giving me pricing for BA, DL, etc. flying LAX-Tahiti on own metal is not a bug)
Is there any particular reason why MSP does not work as an origin or destination ?

    Can you provide some specifics?
As opposed to a multi-segment itinerary, yes. As opposed to a trip that involves connections, no.
Published charts. If the chart includes the region then I have it listed. No guarantee that there is actually "own metal" that flies there.
    Sounds like a bug.

Thanks, and really the provocation of my other questions!

How complete are the charts? LAX-PPT, for example, doesn't return too many results. American, who partners with Air Tahiti Nui (so must have some sort of redemption chart, whether public or otherwise) doesn't show up.

Of course I may just be searching for corner cases left and right...

I do not have the AA partner charts loaded yet so that explains that one.

As for the MSP example above, it looks like anything that would be classified as a "US - Central" airport is not working right now. I see why but it is 10:30pm in Africa and I'm pretty drunk and tired so attempting a fix now is a bad idea. In the meantime, try searching a coastal city airport and see if it breaks worse. :p

I'll fix the central bit soon.

Odd question for you, I searched some odd ones, is there any backing to "Own" metal being available? For example It claims CO has its "own" metal on HTI->KUL which I can't even Imagine how that would be possible.

UI-related, but you know that it needs work already... :)

It'd be nice if you had a filter and sort... I mean it's a great start, but then you want to drill down to a specific airline, or sort by lowest points required or whatever, and you don't currently have that option.

Or maybe "bubble up" the results based on other criteria, much in the way hipmunk sorts flights based on "agony" -- you could have a preferred airline that would be ranked higher, or perhaps highlighted so that it stands out against the whole list.

Just my 2 cents. Nice work though. :)

Do you have the new Aeroplan levels loaded ? When I tried YYZ to SYD, economy return came up 75,000 however I believe it's 80K now under Own and Partner.

Doesn't bring up AS for SEA-HKG. This would be a valid redemption on them using QX or AS/CX.

Also, ANC-PHX can be done on own metal on AS... or a partner award. ;) (There's also a difference in redemption in domestic F if using DL or AA- 50K/65K)

-One-way awards or having the option to choose on the initial search screen

-Yes, would like to see the partner and "home" metal awards

-The ability to sort the results page would be preferred.

    I digg the tool.

First off, bravo for setting up something like this. As a leisure traveler who mostly uses miles to redeem int'l awards, this will be very helpful.

To answer some of your questions, I usually search for return awards. Having redemption options on partners separated out from home awards would be helpful. I also agree with viguera's comment earlier that a sort option would be useful (I'm often looking to see who has the lowest mileage redemption to a place).

They have their own metal listed in the chart though not necessarily their own metal in every route in the regions. That's why it shows that way.
Did you read the first post?? ;)

The issues with airports in the central USA should now be resolved. I've tested with DEN and ORD and it is now returning results. Sorry about that.

Looks good, nice service. I'm not seeing any AS offerings on partners from WAS/DCA/MIA to SCL. Due to all the random AS partnerships I'd expect to see AA, DL, Lan...

AS partners are not yet in the system, in large part because they have so many and the charts are a mess. I'm working on a means to reconcile that but I haven't come up with any great ideas yet.

Class of service filtering is now enabled. Only known limitation at this time is that searching for Y will include Y+. Otherwise checking the appropriate boxes should get you what you want.

Filtering for one way versus return trips is now enabled. For programs where both numbers are in my data set (e.g. F9, BD) it will return two entries rather than one but I'll figure that out eventually.

    Great tool.
    I tried CCS-YUL and LHR-HKG.
It would be nice to sort the columns in order to know who has the "cheapest" awards between certain cities.

How are you keeping award charts up to date? Do you have API access to the airlines or are you manually watching for changes and updating them?
