Got a call from AA today.

They left a message saying my wifes miles expire on Sunday, and I can restart the clock on them if I pay $159.00 (she has 159,000 miles).

I instantly went on line and donated 1,000 miles to charity. They say the transaction will post within 48 hours, which gives me at least 6 hours breathing room before the account expires. :(

Hoping someone can tell me (and its true) that they sweep every night.

Otherwise, I guess I obsessively log in and check.

Although I appreciate the call from AA, I really wish they still allowed Awardwallet to access their site.

Lesson learned and I will definitely be more diligent in the future though.

And just to be safe, I also redeemed for a 300 mile eNewspaper, which showed a final screen with the 300 miles deducted. However, the official account page still shows the original amount of miles.

Took a screenshot and hoping one of the 2 posts in the next 48 hours.

Just wanted to report that the charitible donation was removed overnight. However, the magazine subscription wasn't. So, my wife's account is good until April 2014.

If you are a procrastinator, go with the mileage donation to keep your account from expiring. Beats paying $159.00!
