  1. Thank you all for helping test out our systems so well.

I am getting ready ( well, always have been ) to go to launch.

I have made all the tweeks to servers as I see should be made now.

I would really appreciate some input on your experiences over this weekend before launch.

    Thanks

Not a huge difference, but it does seem faster.

Thx for the work you guys have put into the site!

Great job Jamie! I do think things have sped up with all your tuning no doubt. I think that the bottle neck for some people that might perceive the site to be slow are users of browsers that don't have higher speed JavaScript. :)

  6. The site seems pretty speedy - the only thing I've noticed is that the various SWF ads block the loading of the header, which is actually located at the bottom of the DOM, so you end up with a slightly uncomfortable pause while you wait for the header to pop into place.

It might be worth your while editing the PAGE_CONTAINER template to move the header back to the actual top of the HTML if a lot of people are noticing the pause.

  7. I forgot to ask - what are you using for search? Not the standard MySQL FT I assume?

Firefox 4, everything is quite fast except launching the quick nav menu. I end up clicking the forums tab in the bread crumb aisle instead.

  10. We are using standard search at this point. Waiting for Sphinx integration into xenForo[IMG]

But we are using 3 char search.

We really have to because of the acronyms used in the industry, especially Airport codes like SAN, DEN, and LAX

We do know with our experinence with VBullletin, that we willl have to deal with search in some way, outside of the application. Maybe NoSQL[IMG]

    Thanks again

  11. Yup

People are perceiving this slowdown as the Chat we use. I agree with you that is more likely the order of things( javasrcipt )

    Thanks again

  12. I have something in the works that may well put Sphinx to shame, but it's not ready just yet.

  13. We haven't had any complaints yet on search, so it is worth waiting to see if xenForo will come up with something for large forums, witch we will be.

Not really a problem outside the "Post a random number thread," though! :D

The initial screen seems to open more quickly but

all other functions remain locked for quite a long time

The 1st "Done" at the bottom corner shows up

long before the load is actually done

Jamie I'm based in SIN and I haven't noticed any real performance issues...but then I really shouldn't as I'm accessing MP when you're all asleep (or should be asleep) [IMG]

Things look like they are going alright.. There are a few issues that I have brought up on the beta forum, but have not yet received a response. Hope one of those can be accomplished before the 3/1 launch.
