The most obvious things are pills and booze and earplugs, but with this being the tech forum where's the fun in that! What do you use to send you off to sleep?

When on a cramped Euro flight (BA) or stuck next to a noisy grunter/snorter in Biz, the only thing that can save me is my iPhone. I can listen to a bit of classical music, or maybe watch a film/tv show — but when I have a million thoughts rushing through my head I use my pzizz app. It's the best thing I've bought! The website has all the info: http://pzizz.com/ — and it really does work. Splendidly.

No matter where I am I can fall asleep with pzizz. I do also have the energizer app, but for some reason that just makes me feel sleepy too....

Do you have any apps or gadgets?

Old fashion ear plugs and a mask work for me.

Alcohol has nasty side effects once I wake up. Valium is fun, but it's hard to get. I have a hard time falling asleep in general, even with a face mask and ear plugs. Usually I rely on sleep deprivation the day before. I figure at least that way I can be productive on the ground by staying up all night. It beats staying up all night on the plane and being bored.

Actually I do have a real sleep pillow! It has a speaker embedded in it and you hook up your iPod - quite effective, but too bulky to take on my travels. There is a smaller iPod pillow - a round thing with beans in it. Don't buy it. It's so uncomfortable it's more of a keep awake pillow!

Thanks for the advise, it is the sort of thing I would buy if I came across it in a store.

Sleeping is one of those things at which I excell. ;) Ask, Hunki. About 90% of the time I fall asleep about 10 minutes into any movie or TV program we watch at home.

On planes, I usually fall asleep reading, unless it is a really rip roaring, page-turner mystery--then I am hooked until I am finished.

I feel you simply must have a good pair of silicone ear plugs/ear phones (etymotics, etc) and comfortable eye shades. Combine the two with a good music player and I'm convinced I could sleep thru a nuclear explosion. Assuming the FA would allow it...

I think everyone must find through experience what does and does not work for them....I guess that's one of the few advantages of being an insomniac like me...the choice is easy...sleeping pills at home, and sleeping pills on the plane!

drink until I pass out....jk, ok, well sometimes
I actually don't have much trouble sleeping on the airplane, but if I'm in Y, I like the window seat so I can lean my head on the wall.

Sheep were so smelly. Likes are entirely wholesome. I desperately want to be liked so counting them is an excellent aid to sleep. sadly, I have so few that i must recount numerous times times times to sleep well. [IMG]

PLUS... likes take up a lot less room than the sheep..

I only need about 600 likes to get ads free ... so feel free to add to my likes collection.
I will sleep much better knowing I am liked.

Ditto to pzizz! It’s an awesome tool for a nap or to fall asleep. I have used for years and absolutely love it.

Pzizz is a nice concept, but I find tying to sleep with hard earbut earphones potentially painfull.
Also it wore down my ipod battery. At least I never rolled over in my sleep and strangled myself with the chord.

Here's another Pzizz fan. I usually stay at SPG properties with iPhone/iPod docks, so in order to combat jetlag I simply dock my iPhone and fire up Pzizz while going to bed. Works everytime.
