Absolutely incredible to see the hammerlock the aerogangsteros have on the Obama Administration and the Congress-five horrific algorithmic airlines in a third of a billion person nation (who are the campaign bundlers for these gangsgteros, an amazing job of capturing our government?). There has never been a worse time to be an air passenger in modern day America....a staggering, non stop decline in comfort and choice for the traveler over the past 5 post merger years ( you can only make a billion dollars a quarter burning out your employees and creating a Gitmo experience for your chunrees.). The "new" UAL aircraft are dangerously overcrowded with the addition of a Row 39 that can't recline, (basically a seat in the toilet) the new lavatory (which is far too small for 20% /30% of Americans, but is being used on transcons.) and cramped Aisles create a flying hazard but the regulators are totally in flagrante with their regulatees. Not flying much, but the stress levels on the airlines packed planes where FA's are forced to sell trail mix (safety is definitely compromised as Congressman deFasio just pointed out.) Frequent flyer programs are ended but the gangsteros still hawk miles under false pretenses.....A total wilding on the younger generation who are grounded by hedge funds/private equity...Asking why air travel has become so crappy while oil is $27 a barrel is like BernIe asking Hillary why she took $600,000 to "speak" to Goldman Sachs, for the aerogangsteros and getting that deer in the headlights look... THERE IS NO DEFENSIBLE RESPONSE..

Also worth noting that United spends 10 minutes telling people who board that safety is their number one priority, which is incredible on its face (1). Since this company has literally not made one truthful statement in over a decade there is grounds for serious concern.
    1. Uniteds/ wall streets one and ONLY non government mandated concern is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

A professional investor makes money investing with the Political Type in power, and yet the airline industry has not been a profitable investment, even with the low fuel prices.

I suspect with the enormous investment, union contract, and government mandates they have a large monkey on their back.

It would be a good time for many to invest, if the public would like to put their money where mouth is,

I suspect in due time water will seek it's own level.

    Amtrak is a train wreck...

INDIANAPOLIS — Republic Airways Holdings Inc. is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, as it struggles with a plunge in profits and a pilot shortage.

The Indianapolis-based carrier said Thursday the move allows it continue normal flight schedules while it restructures its finances and contracts. It says it will retain its collective bargaining agreements with its unions.

The airline’s pilots fly regional jets for American, United and Delta. The bigger airlines have been hiring pilots away from regional operators like Republic.

Republic had been unable to hire enough replacements due in part to a labor dispute which was eventually resolved.
