How can you know ahead which line to stand in for UA Group 2 boarding?

Sometimes it's economy, sometimes premium. Is it the whim of the desk or the airport or just dumb luck? I'm usually economy-plus and really want that baggage spot by my seat!

So you're looking for a gatelouse howto? Does everything fill up that quickly on ua?

I know the boarding process at ua has been in flux but I suspect just paying attention will suffice for most routes.

At IAH Terminal E (and I assume other gates though I don't fly UA much) they have lines set up for each boarding group individually so you can simply queue in the appropriate line according to the group indicated on your boarding pass.

Well, it just seems you have to be proactive and get up close to the entry.. UA does not do a good job of control.
