Planning a trip for this summer and we're likely to be in Bologna for 2 days. Any recommendations from folks who have been there before?

I have stayed at the Baglioni and it was very nice but pricey. Also stayed at the Corona d 'oro....was also pretty good.... Most of the chains are not centrally located IIRC.

Thanks Cliburn. I didn't see any chain stuff centrally located. I was looking at the Grand, but I'll look into both of these. Thanks for the recommendations.

We had to drop college age daughter there last summer to catch early AM flight from airport so used some spg points for her to stay at airport Sheraton. They have a shuttle in to town, but I don't know why else you would want to stay there. It looked like a business place

Thx, Laura. As you say, rather be centrally located. :)

I had thought the Grand Hotel was part of the Baglioni chain.... now I see it is part of LHW.... just has Baglioni in the name.... That is where I stayed... it was pretty nice.

The Grand is actually the hotel that gets the best reviews on Trip Advisor, so I was curious. Thanks for the validation!

Did you now choose the Grand Hotel Majestic in Bologna for your stay?
    Thanks.

Leaning that way. I'm swapping e-mails with the hotel. They don't have any regular connecting rooms available for our stay but they offered a reasonable rate for a suite that might work.

Absolutely. I think it's likely. Haven't found much else that seems like a good fit.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. It is a bit out of town but frequent buses into centre and walkable.

Update. I was all set to stay at the Grand. The hotel was helpful via email but didn't have connecting rooms. They wanted to charge 900 Euro a night for a suite that would fit 4 of us.

That was a bit steep. Thankfully I was able to find someone helpful at Corona d'Oro per Cliburn's suggestion above. One group actually owns a handful of properties including Corona. They were very helpful via phone and e-mail getting a suite squared away for just shy of 300 Euro (they had no connecting rooms, either).
