Do you have a favorite hotel points program? No two programs are the same, as these programs heavily compete for frequent travelers across the country. And as you can imagine, things get even more heated when credit cards and hotel rewards come in the picture. For some frequent travelers, hotel rewards credit cards can be preferable to other types of rewards – such as airline miles and cash rewards. With preferable treatment at regularly-visited hotels to, of course, free nights at a hotel, there is a lot to like. The million-dollar question is obvious: Which credit cards are the best? According to Curtis Arnold, there are a few that stand out from the rest: Hilton HHonors: The card from Citi bumps the user up to Gold status, giving way to preferred rooms. It also has a large sign-up bonus. Starwood Preferred Guest: At two points for every dollar at SPG hotels, it doesn’t take much for frequent travelers to reach 7,000 points – the minimum for a free nights’ stay. Arnold notes that it’s a favorite for business travelers with its flexibility. Marriott Rewards: A number of goodies follow card holders after 50 qualifying nights, including Hertz #1 Gold car rental program. Hyatt Gold Passport: After the first purchase, two free nights are granted. No foreign transaction fees is another noticeable benefit. Orbitz.com: Hotel perks at discount prices transform this card into a contender for the category, according to Arnold. Business travelers can expect similar perks, given the lower prices.
