    Hello,

I have a last-minute trip to Montevideo that I just booked for this coming Monday. Does anyone have any tips, please, for hotels in MVD? I'm Hyatt Diamond, SPG Gold, and Hilton Gold. It looks like the Sofitel casino hotel in Carrasco is close to the office I'll be at. Anyone have experience at the Sofitel? It appears to have been recently renovated.

Any tips welcome, hotel-related or not! I've never been to Uruguay and I'm not sure what to expect :)

    Best regards,

My only stay there was at the Four Points, which was a quite decent hotel, and better than many domestic US Sheratons.

Eat steak. Theirs is some of the best.

Walking along the waterfront can be nice if the weather holds. The museum of the Gaucho and Banking is interesting for ~30 minutes. Dining in the old Estancia del Puerto is delicious. Lots of options there, so long as you're ready to eat meat.

[IMG] I've not been inside, but the Legislative Palace is a mighty nice building.
