Best ever was a 14 minute connection arriving on a very late flight from EZE connecting to VCE flight- arrival C15, departure A42- a car waiting on the tarmac- driven to the security/passport control underneath B, then directly to the aircraft- where the pilot was holding the plane for "connecting passenger". It was really above and beyond. Don't come to expect it however- I have also had many waits and a couple of overnights on missed connections as of late.

I've only seen "VIP HON" on LX BPs.
No idea what it actually means ?

Rambuster- LX boarding passes always seem to print this if you use OLCI.

Since being a SEN I have received several op ups but never when I was a FTL.

  10. I got a lot of Y->C op ups back in 2009, but only one in 2010, so no rule there.
I still value my status in case of ir-op handling and especially the exit row ASR.

I've also seen it on "real" BPs issued at checkin.

    Yes Sen+ comes in handy.

Never an op-up though (on LH).

Can't confirm that - my OLCI-BP with LX always show "GOLD HON C" or "GOLD HON Y".

On Christmas Day 2010 I was flying MAN-FRA-NRT. There was some overnight snow in FRA and due to the late arrival of the incoming flight to MAN we arrived 93 minutes late in FRA, 2 minutes before the NRT flight was due to depart. I had hoped that the NRT flight might also be delayed but longhaul flights were departing without significant delays.

Fortunately for me there was an unrelated problem which delayed the departure of the NRT flight. My flight from MAN taxied towards the C gates and for a moment I thought we might park at a lower C gate (which sometimes happens to ex-UK flights especially if they are late) but it then turned around and headed back towards Kelsterbach. After taxing half the length of FRA we finally parked at the farthest apron stand.

A car was waiting for me but because of snow on the ground there seemed to a traffic jam. I was relieved when the car was eventually parked more or less under D-AIMC at C14 (though I had hoped it would be D-AIMD “Tokio”). Since it was a non-Schengen to non-Schengen transfer there was no need to go through passport control. Also because the UK is deemed clean for security purposes I did not have to go through security screening. A perfect combination!

I would like to think LH would have provided a direct transfer even for passengers without status but who knows?

  15. On my last two connections to long haul in MUC, the feeder flight arrived at an apron position around the boarding time of my TATL segment. Direct transfer was offered to passangers to another destination (dep 10 minutes earlier then mine) but I had to go by bus.

Lucky you .... I am a VUP (Very Unimportant Person) instead of a lounge i get a pointer to the washrooms, instead of a limo service I get an offer to be carried in the trunk of some shabby car, instead of good meals in the plane i get the leftovers from the others, instead of an upgrade they put me in the avih compartment.........
