I'm new to HHonors, and so far I'm not impressed by them, especially their IT.

I requested my new membership card numerous times and eventually after some struggle I got them to sent it.

However I never received it - then I found out that it was posted to my old address!

The most annoying is that a HHonors CS verified my address before sending it off, why can't they just send it to the address in my profile?

Now that I realise why on earth the hotel credited the miles to the wrong FFP - I tried to change it when I checked into the hotel, but it didn't work.

I can see my profile at HHonors and it displayed the info I updated - how come they still have my old info? What's the point of updating if they don't actually update your information?

Same thing happened to me, but it was because I had 2 accounts. After the third Gold card request I started trying out my older login IDs. I had the accounts merged and then found Award Wallet.

Newbie here, do please excuse the stoopid question: is it necessary to have the HHonors card to take advantage of program benefits?

I've had complimentary gold status for a while, but never received a card. However, I use an iPhone app to hold all my loyalty card info and on a recent trip was able to take advantage of the free wifi for Golds by simply giving the receptionist my number. He had to look up my record, but I saved about $40 for the duration of my stay so I didn't mind the wait.

No you don't need the card, it's on your profile.
I got the card through leaving a comment on HHonors wall on FB.

Getting HH cards are often a challenge but like others have stated you rarely need it.
Am confused however why you reached the conclusion that because of the old address you didnt get your miles posted correctly???

I set my address up to my parents' address in HK in order to qualify for the HH Gold offer, and at the same time I set up my double dip option to be LH. However I decided later to drop LH and would like miles for UA instead, so I updated my profile and everything. I double checked everything before my first Hilton stay, then at check-in the FD gave me a form to verify the info. Guess what everything was wrong - my address was misspelled, wrong email address, wrong FFP etc. So I took my time to correct everything and it still turned out wrong - later HH claims that you can't just 'alter' a form at check in - how ridiculous.

How on earth can I change thing if Hilton can't even get my address right - I even verified it with a 'social media specialist'. I never have any trouble with Marriott/IHG.

I have always been frustrated by the lack of intelligence exhibited by Hilton HHonors employees on the telephone. I usually request that a Diamond representative help me as they are certainly better than most of the morons who work the phones for Hilton. I am now a Diamond, but I did this even before I was a Diamond and I was never refused.

OK ... First off I cannot say why it is difficult but they are at least correct that it is often very difficult to make changes at check-in .....anyone who has tried to change their earnings options selection at a late stage will have experienced this.

Its not an unknown (or is it?) that that HH reservations systems at the hotel level is not as well integrated as it should be. This goes back a few years when the Hilton chain consisted only of Hiltons and Conrads Hilton bought Hampton, Doubletree and Embassy suites in the early to mid 90s and had to merge them all into one system.
Most of the problems that you describe seems to occur at some of the older properties.

In the future I suggest you have them e-mail you a reservation confirmation at booking so your address HH # and address could be verified. As far as the FF # number I know I did experience some problems many years ago but since I only select the points and points earnings these days I am not sure what occurs.

Did you make your reservation before changing your profile?

My advice would be to call to the elite desk and have them change your desired airline option before checking in if the miles are still posting to the wrong airline.

Thanks a lot for all the advice :) I changed my FFP after I made the reservation but it's still shouldn't justify the fact that I can't change it - especially it stated the right info on my HH page.

The weird thing is that the hotel I stayed at got my address right - I got a bill sent to my address from the hotel.
    So:
The hotel got the right address, wrong FFP - the hotel told me to change any info that's wrong.
Hilton system showed wrong address and perhaps wrong FFP
My HH page showed the right address and FFP.

I just can't follow the logic. Fortunately Hilton is not my primary chain because I'm really fed up with getting something so basic right.
