We had a four-day award stay at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square during the summer. The short version is we had a great stay, in large part due to the hotel's staff.

Before our stay, I emailed to let them know I was celebrating my birthday. They responded the next day and saying they had upgraded me to a junior suite. This was a large room with balcony with a view of the water.

When we checked in, there was a fruit and cheese plate with a bottle of wine and a hand-written note wishing me a happy birthday. A few days later when we had dinner in the restaurant, they gave us free dessert and a round of drinks when my girlfriend snuck off and asked them to put a candle in something for me.

Location-wise, the hotel is well positioned. It's a couple blocks away from a subway stop and also the terminal point of the street car lines. Heading out the front door, going to the right is a much nicer area than to the left. Nowhere did I feel unsafe, but they were a fair number of panhandlers outside.

There is no executive lounge at this property. However, I was a gold member at the time, and we received coupons which each day got us a free drink, pastry, and piece of fruit at the lobby Starbucks.

Interesting. I stayed here two or three dozen times as a Diamond and I think I might have gotten an upgrade once in all those visits.

Functional property and good location, though.

I recently stayed at Hilton San Francisco Union Square on points.. I am Diamond. I did not use any NOR1 or extra points to upgrade. Took my chances. Previously I have received nice suites in tower 2.
This time, I got a nice corner suite in Tower 1. Recently remodeled, carpet still smelled new.

I am really grateful for the upgrade so for any Hilton employees reading this, I say it "with love" :)

Why do you put the Ethernet cable by the sitting room TV without any chair of appropriate height to use whatever I might plug into it.

Pleanty of space for a proper desk and swive chair but none visible.

I love their buffet breakfast. No lounge, 2 continental breakfast coupons per night. Only me. They accept 2 continental = 1 Full breakfast so I live to be fat another day. I am not a connoisseur of Chinese Breakfast food but I like Char Shu Bao and Shu Mai and they have both so I pigged out both days :)

View from Front Door into living room. Note high chairs/table, no seat backs on chairs, too cool but not too functional for lowriding on non-existent swivel chair using laptop
