Looking at booking a trip to Costa Rica in March of 2012, and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the Hilton Papagayo Resort?

    1. Is it worth the price ($500 a night - all inclusive)
    2. Flying into LIR from DTW is about $780 per person.. There HAS to be a better airport to fly from. (I'm a newbie to the shopping around for different airports.) Although I do have the miles to cover it, I wanted to save them for a later trip.

    Thanks for the help!

I don't consider this a luxury hotel. It's okay, but way overpriced. I was there when it was not all inclusive, and as a diamond spent $30-40 per person on food and drinks. (Breakfast provided)

You can fly to SJO, but it's a bit of a drive to the property.

All inclusive will generally get you unlimited buffet food and well liquor, some activities and non-motorized water sports equipment. Agree w/ Jaimito, the hotel is definitely acceptable, but not luxury.

If you can get anything like a similar deal, you'd do much better at the JW Marriott or Four Seasons...

Liberia is definitely your most convenient airport for arrival.

Picking some random dates in mid-march, the Four Seasons will be about $675 on a fifth-night-free package.

Kids camp...quite good at this hotel....is included. Also kids under five eat free. Book with a FS preferred partner or Amex FHR for free breakfast, upgrade if available and some other credit, too.

There is really not a better airport to fly into.
