This is my trip report for the Hilton Mainz, Rheinstrasse 68, 55116 Mainz, Tel: +49-6131-245-0, Fax: +49-6131-245-589, email: firstname.lastname@example.org The hotel is located on Rheinstrasse right on the bank of the river Rhein, so you just can't miss the hotel. If you arrive by car, covered parking is 19.50 € per day. There are also a handful free parking spots in the streets (e.g. Loehrstrasse) around the city wing of the hotel. If you arrive at FRA and use public transportation, there are two options how to get to the Hilton. Take subway S9 to Wiesbaden – Mainz/Kastel. From there it's a very nice 10-15 min. walk to the Hilton. Get off the subway, walk towards the end of the train, cross the tracks, keep right, up the hill [you'll see the Hilton on the left], cross the bridge and the Hilton will be right on your left. If you have a lot of baggage or just don't want to walk, take a train or subway S8 to Mainz Hauptbahnhof and a cab from there on [make sure to tell the cabbie to go to the Hilton on the Rhein, not the City Hilton]. The refurbishment was completed a few weeks ago. Personally, I like the new modern design with an individual touch of their public areas very much. The rooms are Hilton like. At check-in I was greeted very friendly by the Front Desk agent. Within a few moments I was handed my room-key and a voucher for 24 hrs Internet use. All my room-preferences set in my profile were honored. Received an upgraded room on their Business Floor [7th floor on the Rhein Wing]. As always, a bellman was waiting right away offering assistance with my bag. In my room a welcome note, a fruit plate, two bretzels, two small cakes, a bottle of water and a small bottle of red wine was waiting for me. As mentioned before, all rooms have been renovated recently. One major improvement to the past are the new pillows and blankets! The room was equipped with A/C, minibar, flat screen TV, WiFi, coffee maker, bathrobes and slippers and the Hilton clock. The bathroom was clean with the usual amenities. We had dinner at the Weinstube. You can order a la carte or choose the all you can eat buffet for 39€ which includes unlimited soft drinks, water, beer, wine, sparkling wine, coffee and tea. The variety of the buffet is phenomenal. A salad bar, soup, 8 – 10 different hot items and of course assorted desserts [make sure to try the three colored mouse a chocolate]. Breakfast is also served in the Weinstube. In the summertime you can also sit outdoors right on the bank of the river. If you like to gamble, there's a casino right around the corner. Check-out was fast, friendly and accurate. Only downsite at this hotel is the missing lounge. However, I'll return for sure.
