This was seen elsewhere - I obtained permission to repost it here for the MP crowd ...

    --

We wanted to make sure you were aware of a few planned updates to HHonors.com in the coming weeks.

    Hotel Category Adjustments
First, we wanted you to know about a few reward category changes before advance notice is given on HHonors.com tomorrow, September 26. These changes, which will take effect on October 8, 2014, will be reflected on the Standard Room Rewards Update page on HHonors.com. We will continue updating the community regularly with changes related to category adjustments.

On October 8, 2014, 21 of our hotels and resorts will be increasing in hotel category, and 12 of our hotels and resorts will be decreasing in hotel category. While HHonors.com will be updated tomorrow with all the exact details, we wanted you all to hear it first. Below we have listed out all hotels changing category and what their new category will be.

    Update to Terms & Conditions
In addition, we wanted to give you a heads up that we will be updating our Terms & Conditions, which will be live here in the coming weeks. These changes are minor and include protective measures for HHonors members and the program. For example, Hilton HHonors will reserve the right to suspend or discontinue HHonors membership if:
    • A member illegally redeems rewards or certificates
    • A member engaged in abusive, offensive or hostile conduct (physically or verbally) toward any hotel, guests, or employees
    • Failure to pay any bills or accounts owed to Hilton Worldwide or any hotel within the portfolio takes place

If you have any questions on these two updates, please feel free to reach out within this thread or through PM and I will do my best to get answers for you!

WilliamQ, the Doubletree by Hilton Johor Bahru (Cat 1) seemed to have been spared devaluation, it's a steal for 5,000 points. Stayed there 2 weekends ago, absolutely worth it...less than 10 min drive beyond the customs checkpoint in Johor, you should go for it:p

Having just stayed in Conrad Dublin, I have to say a "+1" is not warranted. And ditto for Hilton Backbay, which should get a "-1" if anything (it's dreadful).

Same here regarding the Conrad Dublin, having stayed there and visited it several times, I believe the hotel is a "Hilton" instead of a Conrad and should marketed, branded and classified as such in Cat. 5 but not higher IMHO. Overall a good hotel, when priced / marketed right.

The problem is that many "meaningful" Hilton, Conrad, WA properties are now too high priced on points. It's out of whack IMHO in too many cases.

Sounds good to me. Priced right, the same with the DT KL which goes for 10K a night, seems to be right IMHO.

haven't had an opportunity to stay at DT KL, yet but the DT Johor Bahru was very nice :

    http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...u-Johor_Bahru_Johor_Bahru_District_Johor.html

best part is, i used points for the reservations, and as the hotel had an opening launch promo of 1,000 bonus points for stays, i actually got 1,000 bonus points credited back in my account, so it became a 4,000 point stay, same thing for my wife's reservation..:)

One of my friends who works for SPG (not William) points out
that there is severe undercapacity and severe overdemand in
the Boston area, which explains why we have such inflation
there. They get what they can get: I suppose that's part of the
picture that we tend to willfully overlook.

So it's all demand / supply.
