Hilton Garden Inn's are typically solid not too expensive places to stay, but this particular one impressed me enough to write a review about it.

The location of this hotel is a few miles from ORD and not really designed for walking. It is fairly close to a casino. They have a shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the airport. In addition you can request shuttle service to any place in the des plaines area and they will take you there and pick you up at no cost. This is a great value for people who do not want to drive and don't want to take taxis! I was at the hotel for 3 days for a training class and the hotel took me there and back each day and even picked me up from thre and brought me to the airport after I had already checked out.

The Hilton itself had an attractive foyer, and I was helped at the front desk right away. They immediately recognized my gold status and gave me 2 bottles of water and 3 breakfast vouchers. Interestingly I stayed at a Hilton Garden in East Syracuse a month ago and they assumed I wanted the points. The default apparently isn't consistent, but they are willign to change the gift if asked and in this case I did want the free breakfasts.

The room was nice with a king size bed and because I was able to use the new online check-in program from Hilton so I booked an 8th level floor room - unfortunately there wasn't any view to speak of, and after visting I don't think any room at this hotel probably has a view. The room had a desk and a lounge chair as well as a nice banquet that had a mini fridge, keurig, and a microwave. The bathroom was decent but nothing particularly special.

Where this hotel really shined was the onsite dining. The breakfast was a wide selection buffet where you could order pancakes, eggs, waffles, omelettes, and french toast. Comped this was $15 per day of value. In addition the dinners were very good. I had a chicken enchilada which although not the best I had exceeded my expectations. The next day the skirt steak with peppercorn sauce, grilled heirloom tomatoes, and risotto was delicious. The wait staff was fabulous and very gracious and friendly.

I'd say consistently the staff was very friendly, and helpful, and I had no complaints about the service.

In addition I also used the work out room which although small had weights, a bicycle, steppers, treadmills, and ellipticals all with ability to plug in headphones to watch and listen to tv. The equipment was in good shape, they had lots of towels and even some chilled towels. There was an area where they said there were disposal earbuds but not seeing any there the tie I was there I'm assuming that didn't work out too well.

I'd consider that one of the better Hilton garden inns I've been at and the manager of the hotel should be happy with his staff (waitresses, and shuttle drivers in particular)!

This is a relatively large HGI

The shuttle will also take you to an El Blue line stop which makes it easy to get into the loop -- and yes we've been there, done that.

This was one my first few stays at a HGI, they won some award i think in 06 or 08 for best property. Not sure if they still have but they have some interesting kiddie pool indoors with a mushroom rain thing.

I had a 2 night stay for a concert at Allstate, yes shuttle will drop you off there too if you ask.

I only distinctly remember this stay as I was there with a friend and they allowed us to drink our own booze in the lobby, we had made friends with a wedding party that owned most of the hotel, so I am sure that helped. But the person I was with had leftovers from an oktoberfest party. I think we drank a 100 drinks or so that evening.
