A brief note about a hotel we really enjoyed in March 2009 - HGI Bologna, Italy. At the time it had been open only a few months, and the new, sparkling, modern style facility was a pleasure to stay at. This is a single story hotel with a large open parking lot adjacent, with free parking. It is located in a residential neighborhood about a mile from the main highway, and about 5 miles from the center of Bologna. We had quite a hard time finding it, in our rental car, with the directions available on the website at the time. Eventually we did get there, and the directions on the website are now more detailed and helpful.

Our room with was modestly sized with a good sized bathroom and comfortable, modern-style furnishings. The coin laundry facility was located down the hall and much appreciated, the only in-hotel laundry we found on that trip. The staff was multilingual and very friendly and helpful. There was a large comfortable lobby and 2-computer business center with free Internet access and a printer. The hotel restaurant served breakfast and dinner -- both were enjoyable. I don't recall if breakfast was complimentary for Hilton Gold.

We drove to Bologna for sightseeing and parked at a city parking garage - the drive to and from was very doable. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and would return there.
