We have completed an overnight stay at this great property at Dublin Airport // Ireland.

Free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel // vice versa. Every half hour // between 4am and well after 1 am. Superb timing indeed we found.

We have stayed at the Hilton Dublin Airport before and have known what to expect, as always we received a warm welcome from the shuttle bus driver and the reception desk, our Deluxe room was ready and we had been given 4 bottles of mineral water // still and sparkling and a hand-written note from the manager was also placed in our room.

Everything was in great shape, enjoyed the desk, the international TV channels on offer on the flat screen TV plus a stylish seating arrangement with ottoman and glass coffee table, superb double bed, which was crisp and fresh.

Our room view was towards the front facing the road, this was not noisy at all in our opinion, good insulation. Clare Hall shopping mall is within walking distance as are some residential apartments and some restaurants too.

The size of our room was great for what we needed and wanted, loved it. Internet was on offer, payable and a mini-bar was also fully stocked, charges are automatic here.

The bathroom was not the largest, but it was in very good shape, wonderful Crabtree and Evelyn products incl. body lotion and everything else plus white fluffy towels, bathtub with overhead shower, good water pressure and granite sink. Plus of course the toilet.

We had some late lunch at the Bar in the Lobby area, great service, many people enjoying themselves, we had irish ham sandwiches with relish, a delight plus traditional bangers // sausage // and mashed potatoes. Plus hot chocolate, cappuccino and waters. Excellent quality and value, everything came in at 32 Euros combined around 40 US Dollars. We found it well worth it!

We enjoyed room service dinner incl. Salmon, panini with ham and cheese, toffee pudding dessert and again a hot chocolate, beautiful quality and presentation. The bill came in at 60 Euros // 80 US Dollars. Our dinner was delivered within 40 minutes. The hotel was full and room service was busy. There is tray charge of 5 Euros on room service.

Breakfast was included in our rate and it was ample and very well visited, the restaurant Burnells Grill was nearly full at around 10:30am! Good selection of cold cuts, yoghurts, cereals, hot items, eggs and on and on. Freshly squeezed organe juice, great coffee. Great value and highly recommended to include into the overnight rate.

Overall, again, a great stay and we will stay again here in the future and recommend it highly, having stayed at other airport hotels too in Dublin before, we find that the Hilton offers the best quality and value proposition, always relaxing, very welcoming and of great quality in everything they do from the shuttle bus to our room and food // drink offerings.:)

Here are some photos we have taken from our recent stay at the Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel, all are listed at Flickr, the link in under each photo, hope you like it?

Did you wander over to Tesco across the street? I've gone over there in the past for drinks/snacks to bring back.

Indeed, the hotel is convenient located, have gone to Tesco and Eurospar to the other side of the hotel after the Noble House Restaurant. The Eurospar supermarket was in earlier times a Fresh supermarket.

I have written a very thorough review of the Hilton Dublin Airport previously, but thought to give you the heads up about our last three stays in 2012.

Our stay in November was slightly disappointing. The room we received on the fourth floor was renovated, but the mattress was lumpy and the duvet too short, one of us was sometimes partly uncovered. Our sleep wasn't as deep and restful as usual.

    We noticed some other changes.

The furniture went from light to dark brown.

There were new elegant dark blue folders containing the Hotel Directory and the new In Room Dining Menu. The key cards had also different prints - instead of brown they were now also dark blue.

In our opinion that had changed for the better.

The breakfast the next morning was disappointing and not up to the high standards we were used to at this property. The smoked salmon looked as if it was over the use before date, the scrambled eggs were watery and the coffee too bitter for my taste.

We weren't exactly looking forward to our following stay.

It was a prepaid rate, and we had requested an e-standby upgrade to a Hilton Suite.

To our delight the upgrade was confirmed at check in. A late check out at 2 PM was granted without quibble.

The suite was large and located on the third floor. The colors were all kept in brown and the lightning was mellow. When entering there was a small visitor's toilet to the left and a dining area with a table and chairs to the right. At the entrance wooden floor was used. There was also a huge sofa, a big chair and a smaller one, a writing desk and large flat screen TV with international and regional channels. The credenza contained the mini bar. The living room area was carpeted.

The bed room was large with a king sized bed. This time around the mattress, pillows and duvet was fine. We slept like babies with the new Serenity Bed. There was also a writing desk, wardrobe with a safe and a large flat screen TV.

The bathroom was large with a separate bath and shower, sink, toilet and a weighing scale.

We soon realized that the door to the mini bar wouldn't open, so I called reception. Normally the mini bar lock can be released from there, but unfortunately it didn't work. Somebody from maintenance was sent. He arrived within minutes and made it work again.

We tried the Burnells Bar this time around for dinner and were pleased with the new menu. It contains a healthy section, and we choose Tia Maria, tea, hot chocolate and orange juice, the Grilled Aubergine (eggplant) with rice, ratatouille and mixed salad, penne pasta with pesto, chicken and cherry tomatoes and sticky toffee pudding. All was very delicious.

The breakfast had improved again and was back to the old high standards.

Check out was quick and to our surprise the drink we had from the mini bar wasn't charged.

Overall we had a relaxing time and were looking forward to our next stay on the Thank you rate - a bargain of 37.50 Euro / ca. 50 USD - at the end of December. Again we had an e-standby for the Family Room and the suite. We didn't expect an upgrade, because the hotel was fully booked. We were upgraded to a Deluxe Room. To our surprise it was a corner room on the fifth floor. The interior has changed a bit since the renovation, and the rooms have been reclassified.
We were happy and comfortable as in the suite, so there was a big improvement compared against our stay in November.

    Other changes we noticed.

The Diamond welcome amenities have improved. On our first stay we received four bottles of (still and sparkling) water, fruits and mint chocolate. In our opinion the mint chocolate tastes awful. During our last two stays the unbranded mint chocolates were replaced with Lily O’Brien’s chocolates. Much better and very much appreciated.

The shuttle bus drivers and reception staff are still the same. The restaurant and bar staff has changed. They are much younger. There is no cocktail menu available in the bar. Asked if there were any available, we were told there were three choices. I remember two, the Cosmopolitan and Sex on The Beach. On the other side the bar offers a wide variety of liquors and beer.

The problem with the water (too hot, too cold or change in temperature while taking a shower from scalding hot to ice cold) has been nearly eliminated. There are still some minor temperature fluctuations.

Another change we don't like but grudgingly accept is the charge of 2 Euro (ca. 2.65 USD) per person from the hotel to the airport when using the shuttle bus. It is still free from Zone 14 at the airport. Children under 12 can also use the shuttle free of charge. The explanation why the surcharge was introduced on 01.01.13 is that the costs of running the shuttle are very high and to offset some of them customers have to pay. We understand this, but it's very unfortunate in our opinion.

The overall experience has improved for us, so we are going to be very happy in future to stay again more often at the Hilton Dublin Airport.

  7. If I was staying at a Holton property in Dublin I would choose the Conrad any day both for its location and comfort.

Does that really work for an airport departure in the winter, though? I've stopped staying in the city this time of year because of issues I had getting out to the airport one morning when there was a snowstorm and roads were heavily iced. I've stayed on and off at the Hilton the last few years (liked that is was across an intersection from a Tesco superstore), but my current property of choice is Holiday Inn Express which is a little closer and uses a full-sized bus in conjunction with Crowne Plaza which is next door.

Stayed at the Hilton when I was in DUB in April. Very unhappy with the quality of the room, particularly the bed. It was like sleeping on a granite slab. I was exhausted after a long day when I checked into the hotel prior to my flight back to the US and sort of "collapsed" on to the bed from a standing position and my immediate reaction was to yelp "Ouch!"

I'm usually very easy going with hotels and am not a complainer, I just found the bed here objectionable.

    September 2013

Before our flight to Brussels we stayed at the Hilton Dublin Airport.

This one is just a short review about the changes since our last stay. You can always check out an extensive review I wrote last year.

We took the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. Unfortunately the journey was not as pleasant as usual, because there was a rowdy group of Finns on board, who drank alcohol and were very loud. The driver reminded them that alcohol consumption on the shuttle was not allowed.

It helped for a bit, but then the bottle made the round again.

We were glad when we arrived at the Hilton. While the shuttle bus to the hotel is free, from the hotel to the airport costs however 2 Euros per person, be aware of this and must be booked at check-in for your departure.

Check in was pleasant and quick. As returning guests we were warmly welcomed and explained what was new.

Our room was located on the 4th floor and overlooking the opposite apartment complex.

All rooms are refreshed now and have the Serenity bed, which is a Hilton standard.

Our amenity as gold members of the Hilton Honors program had changed to the better. There were two Doorman jars, one with gummi sweets and the other with salted nuts as well as two bottles of water.

We also received a free drinks voucher for two.

Major changes had taken place at the Burnell's Bar & Restaurant. Instead of serving two menus, there is only one, and guests can choose their own seating without waiting for a waiter at the restaurant.

The menu has changed for the better too. There are more healthy options. We had for example a melon medley with Greek yogurt, which was light, refreshing and delicious as a starter. Our main courses were pasta in spicy tomato sauce and vegetables and Pasta with chicken and pesto. My pasta was overcooked, but the sauce had a nice kick and the vegetables were plentiful. Each dish was tasty. We also used our voucher. It was a choice between beer and wine, would be nice when at least Baileys would be included, so there is room to expand this offer. We chose two glasses of red wine and a large bottle of water.

The staff was busy, but very friendly and efficient.

Overall the Hilton Dublin Airport has much improved and is now a solid 4 star. We are going to return soon, when we have an early flight again and are looking forward to our stay.

Would we recommend this hotel to a friend? YES!
Would we stay again at this hotel? YES!

^ Overall, the Hilton Dublin Airport remains on top of all the options available at DUB. We had a Deluxe room, bathtub, Drinks voucher for 2 red wines, free gums and nut mix from Doormen, All as part of being Gold with Hilton, plus of course free breakfast would have been also granted, but our flight was very early and we received breakfast bags and hot coffee in the morning @ 4.15AM which was / is a very nice touch. Highly recommended, the value curve is pretty good at this hotel.

    Thanks, Safe travels. :)

    Jan. 2016 / 3 stays combined

Having stayed over thirty times at the Hilton Dublin Airport we returned after an absence of a couple of years.

[IMG]|| HILTON DUBLIN AIRPORT HOTEL || @DUB || DUBLIN || IRELAND || INCL. OUR DOUBLE CORNER DELUXE ROOM, IN-ROOM DINING, DINNER, BREAKFAST & LUNCH || OUR STAY IN JANUARY 2016 || A BEAUTIFUL AIRPORT HOTEL || by UggBoy UggGirl, on Flickr

This is a review of our combined three stays in January 2016.

The hotel has been mostly renovated, the dining concept changed and a lot of new staff was working there.

On one occasion the check in was a bit rushed due to a large queue behind us. Otherwise staff was always friendly and warm.

We were upgraded during all our stays as Hilton Honors Gold members. Twice from an entrance category room to a Deluxe Room and once to a Corner Deluxe.

The furniture had changed from blonde wood to dark wood. The lightning was reduced and sultry. The newest alarm clock – much smaller than the former model – was also available in two of the rooms.

The mini bar had been replaced with a mini fridge, which was empty.

The flat screen TV had an improved line up of channels including CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC and BBC World.

The artwork was still the same, but in different frames, depicting Irish seascapes.

The king sized bed was comfortable on all three occasions/stays.

One room did show more wear and tear than the other two and hadn’t been renovated yet. One example was the remote control. It had been used so often that the buttons were unreadable.

In one of the other rooms the feather in the safe door was too tight and didn’t let allow the door to open. At first we thought the safe was broken until a manager opened the safe for us and showed us how to deal with it.

Views were either over the entrance and Clare Hall Shopping Centre or Clare Hall and the sea in the distance.

    The bathrooms hadn’t been changed.

Gold amenities were 4 bottles Deep River Rock water, Doorman’s salted peanuts and Wasabi peanuts as well as drink vouchers for two at the bar and restaurant. Each time we received a slight variation, i.e. just water and voucher, all items and once no Wasabi peanuts.

24 hours in room dining had improved too and was delicious. We enjoyed for example Irish smoked salmon sandwiches with a generous amount of salmon and salad, Chicken Satay and green Thai curry.

Earlier each meal came with crisps or fries. We were happy to see, that fries were still on the menu as side dishes, but had been generally replaced with green leafy salad.

At Burnell’s Restaurant and Bar we had a memorable pumpkin risotto.

Breakfast has been also upgraded. It was very good before, but it’s even better now in terms of choices on the buffet. Before tea and coffee were brought to the table. Now a coffee machine and tea making facility are at the buffet for the guest’s own use.

On weekends live entertainment still takes place in the evenings.

The shuttle to/from the airport was reliable, only once it arrived a bit late. One of the drivers recognized us from earlier stays and was as happy to see us again as we were.

In our opinion the Hilton Dublin Airport is the best hotel near the airport and we will use it in our future again before early flights or when arriving in Dublin from a flight in the late evening.

Would we recommend this hotel to a friend? YES!
Would we want to stay at this hotel in our future? YES!

As reported over on FT, it appears that the hotel >>> airport shuttle bus charge of 2 Euros p.p is now kindly waived [it appears that way] for Golds and Diamond Hilton Honors members at the Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel. A welcome benefit enhancement IMHO.

    Cheers & Safe Travels.
