You know what your buddy would love? If for your 29th birthday as you were on a US Airways flight from PHL to DFW, he called to report that you were trying to smuggle a dangerous substance onboard.

Oh yeah, he would love that.

And he'd love it even more if the airline subsequently turned the plane around and heavily armed guards jumped in the plane and pulled you out in handcuffs.

    Hilarious, I tell you.

Seriously... some people don't have two brain cells to rub together. :)

Article says it's revenge for a love triangle. Where's the birthday angle?

I hope they find this asshat, send him to the 9/11 memorial, and make him write every single name out 5x with a stubby pencil.

Them. Male and female. And yes, they're going away for a long time, and US Air and disrupted passengers will be suing them into civil oblivion (aka bankruptcy).

Revenge would be understandable. Stupid, idiotic, asinine, and rude, not to mention inexcusable and severely inconsiderate, but at least you can see why someone would do it. A prank on a friend? That would would make no sense whatsoever. What would be the next prank? Identity theft causing loss of the friend's house and job? Maybe disabling the breaks on the friend's car?

According to the affidavit, during an interview Smith told investigators he was the person who called the Philadelphia Airport Police posing as George Michaels.

He told investigators he and others decided Wednesday night to place the call and he got up Thursday morning and made the call from a payphone.

Smith said he did it to "avenge" Shell's ex-girlfriend because Shell posted a compromising picture of her on Facebook, according to the affidavit.

Smith was charged Friday by criminal complaint with violating federal law by knowingly engaging in conduct with intent to convey false and misleading information, and doing so via a telephone, an instrument of commerce.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at 1:30 p.m. in federal court.

If he's convicted, Smith faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and possible restitution.

So do you think that Shell will learn to adjust his Facebook settings so that they are a little less public?

I couldn't resist sharing this Mobile Upload that he posted on Tuesday...

Making him fly transcon in US Air's Y cabin should be punishment enough.

Wouldn't it be nice if prisoners had to pay at least some of the expense of their incarceration if they have the funds to do so?

They write this without including the picture? Since his FB page was public, they could have grabbed it so we could see for ourselves if the picture justified the revenge.

If the ex-girlfriend isn't a part of the bomb-scare, shouldn't her privacy be respected? Either the photo wasn't still there, wasn't public, didn't actually exist at all, or wouldn't be considered "compromising" to anyone but these feuding guys.

I do hope that the woman's choice of boyfriends improves.

I was joking (sorry, thought that would be obvious) -- I'm sure no media outfit would be so irresponsible as to actually publish a compromising photo of someone posted by a third party!
