Frequent flyers can back me up on this. There’s never been a summer where US domestic fares are so high. In market after markets airlines are charging hundreds of dollars for even short hops. So the cartel gets Bloomberg to write a story about fare sales-citing a one off 96 hour “””sale””” by Southwest in which the lowest fares available in a handful of markets is $100 rt which is high enough. But many fares are way, way more expensive especially on monopoly or duopoly routes. The media used to be able to debunk these false claims but now they knowingly spread them like Typhoid Mary.
