I had no idea, and I was based at LGB for some years. I want to see them too!

Beautiful. Looks like they were preserved in a time capsule.

Very cool indeed! I like the one with the map.

When we were in Moscow, we took ourselves on a guided tour of the amazing subway station art -- mosaics, murals, architecture. The most thrilling were the transportation ones:

I saw them this week while attending the events surrounding the new terminal unveiling. They really are incredible. I've got a photo of the oil rig one somewhere I can post when I get all my pictures off the camera.

    Please do!

For anyone who's flown out of LGB as a pilot, you'll remember Signal Hill, which was home to the first Long Beach oil discoveries. The mosaic almost certainly will be of Signal Hill, also a reporting point for arriving/departing LGB helicopter traffic.

As a regular Moscow visitor I always find myself wanting to spend more time underground. These are really magnificent. The metro itself is quite nice too.

I'm going there tomorrow for the open house. Totally looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll get some good pics, but I'm sure I'll at least have a good story. :)

Very well done. Thanks. LGB terminal bears no resemblance to what I knew. I also spent many, many hours at FSI and did a lot of flying from what is now Signature. Not to mention a C-17; we used to watch them doing flight testing. Nostalgia reigns! Thanks again.

The old historical terminal is still there and used for check-in. Just not shown in the photos/report because it isn't new and sexy. ;)
