There's a reason your newspaper had the following written on the front page in red magic marker: "Do Not Remove From Club"

With the pile of papers that are foisted upon you as you board these days, I am surprised he could be bothered with the club paper. Didn't want to loose his spot maybe [IMG]

Maybe I should go out at 5 AM and write "Do Not Steal My Newspaper" and see if it starts sticking around until 7.

They should have put "Please Steal" on the paper instead. Putting something like "Do Not Remove" on the paper is actually more likely to cause someone to take it. Funny how human psychology works.

I have to admit, I've lifted a newspaper or two from the club before (literally twice in my life), but only in cases where I'm on a late evening flight, there are lots of copies of said paper left behind and the club isn't busy. They'll just get thrown out anyway, and I always be sure I haven't taken one of the last copies.

I hate it when those spots get loose, and start running around all over the place. [IMG]

so I frequently take newspapers from the club in ord - with the full blessing of the aa folks there - in fact, they have handed me them as I was leaving when the newspapers showed up late. it is a real benefit when taking the 6am and leaving the house before the paper arrives. and i am far from the only one - there are stacks of them early in the morning and many people take them.

i will say that mine have never been stamped with don't remove from club - maybe they do that later in the day?

I some times bring a paper from clubs, but I always ask and have never been refused.

But not in the US on domestic flights.

CO seems to have way more papers in the lounge and intends for them to be taken by passengers. UA is the airline where I most commonly see "do not remove from club" on the papers.

US also so stamp their newspapers--and before you ask, no I don't fly US, I just bum off their lounges with my AmEx. [IMG]

The AA club at IAD marks their papers, as does DCA, and I've seen papers marked at LAX.

In the case I mentioned, the passenger was on an 8:30 AM flight and had taken the only copies (that I saw in the lounge) of the publication in question.

Good thing they have no such markings on the ceramic AA coffee mugs in the AC. [IMG]

But woe be upon the hapless cleaner who ignores the "do not toss" sticker on the ORD FL lotion bottle.
