Hertz hurts

    Used some points to rent at home this weekend. Landed home (FLL) and received my "Carfirmation" email. Silver camaro, spot xxx. Sweet! Nope. No car in the spot and the lines at both counters were long. Really long. After almost an hour, I finally got a car. Well, SUV. Buick Enclave. So much for President's Circle and Gold Canopy service.

    Sorry you had a bad experience. Did they explain why your car was changed?

    Nope. Everyone (employees) was in a frenzy trying to bring cars to the pickup area. I was lucky and flagged down an employee who helped me much sooner than if I had waited in line longer.

    Had a similar experience this week. I got a text and email as flight landed at 12:30 am in Newark, telling me my stall # (I'm Five Star) and the car, a Chevy Camaro SS - a very nice upgrade since I only booked an economy car.

    I got to the stall and there was a totally different car, a Nissan Maxima, which I would have been happy with too, but the employee roaming around saw me looking puzzled and when I explained, said I had to go to the counter. Long wait later, I was given an Altima (still a nice upgrade) but the lost time - over 30 mins of hassle - left a bad impression at 1 am in 22 degree weather.

    Nice upgrade. Why didn't you stick with the maxima?

    It happened again. Got my 'carfirmation' email when I landed in FLL. "Silver Dodge Charger, stall ###". Yada, yada, yada....different car in stall and not my name above it. (I had bypassed the board and gone straight to the car.) Went inside and told the same girl from last week. 3 minutes later, Cadillac. Nice car but this is starting to suck.

    I can never seem to redeem my points for an award rental either...

    I've been redeeming them steadily, every weekend at FLL. I have no issue using the points, but it would be nice to have a car waiting!
