Why do you have to fly into LA/Ontario????? LAX would make it easy.

I don't think you can fly from LAX to Ontario, except maybe by private plane or helicopter. If they're not extremely concerned about the cost, I would book a car service. It's not good for the elderly who aren't accustomed to the LA freeways to attempt to drive a lot, especially after a long flight.

both airports are in LA....there's no service between them. Just fly them into and out of LAX.

But you can via ANA or Aeroplan or Singapore (for US-issued MR accounts) so there are still options.

i don't have any idea how to book it. i'm willing to pay if someone can point me how to do it, he has an account with Aeroplan and can signup for whichever mileage program is convenient.

7/8, 7/9, 7/17 flights have award availability. 7/13 and 7/20 does not in a premium cabin. You'll need to figure out how flexible dates are versus say routing/class of service.

    07/08 - SPN-GUM 6:50PM UA5078
    07/09 - GUM-HNL 6:35AM UA200
    07/13 - HNL - LAX
    07/17 - LAX - LAS
    07/20 - LAS - SFO/LAX/DEN/PHX/IAH/ORD - HNL
    07/23 - HNL - SPN VIA GUAM

In general, using miles to book awards, some flexibility helps. UA used to be a transfer partner, so you could transfer miles directly and pay double to avoid any availability issues, but this is no longer an option. (Moreover, you want quite a few stop overs. ANA program might be the best for that. Or many awards.)

Have you checked pricing for this directly without worrying about a mileage redemption? At least to get a potential alternative/baseline since you can use MR effectively as cash for travel.

Its not a matter of paying someone to help book this, but why is it so critical to use LA/Ontario? Just curious. You would make your life easier with just using LAX.

please don't have them drive when very jet lagged. It's even worse if they are unfamiliar with USA driving and navigating or if their English isn't fluent.

That's better..... I'm thinking use air canada and their aero plan. You can call to check for availability ahead of time before transferring the miles. You tell aero plan that you want to make reservations using Amex mr and they will hold res while you transfer points. Just be prepared to be flexible.
