Chicago emergency crews responded to a Hazmat situation at O'Hare Airport Tuesday when an airline employee was injured handling baggage.
According to Chicago Fire Department Commander Will Knight, the fire department responded to O’Hare for an incident which what was believed to be a battery in a shipping container exploded while being handled by a United Airlines employee.
The incident was thought to be “an accidental discharge” and no criminal activity was suspected, Knight said in a press release.
Fire and police officials were inspecting the other containers, the release said. The Bomb and Arson Unit was also called to the scene.
