Hawaiian Airlines brushes off Jetstar competition

    Hawaiian Airlines is not concerned that Jetstar’s entry onto the Brisbane-Honolulu route from December will threaten the viability of its services in that market.

    The US carrier has had a monopoly on the route and last month increased its services to four flights a week from three.

    But during an earnings conference call, an analyst raised concerns that Hawaiian Airlines might find the relatively small Brisbane market size would lead to overcapacity on the route which would make it unprofitable.
    The airline recently withdrew from the unprofitable Honolulu-Fukuoka route.
