It takes so long to accumulate enough miles to use for decent seating on a long haul flight, why the heck would anyone want to sell them?

Not if you believe some of the posts here on this very MP:) One poster applied for ten cards in one week another claims to have gotten five 100K bonuses (from the same card) from Citi in under a year:).

I sold 275k miles to Delta in exchange for a coach ticket to Tulsa. Does that count?

I hope that coach flight was for 275K was from Australia, Europe or somewhere far, far, away. If not... you didn't sell ...you were a victim of assault and battery:D

It only counts if the coach ticket ride was on a stagecoach! :D

I think I sold a few for the US airways Grandslam a few years ago. No I take that back. I just gifted miles maybe. Can't remember.

Wow - I had no idea it was against program rules. Apparently I know just as much about FF program rules as I do the iTunes User Agreement.

About 5 years ago... Had some orphan miles (about 21,000) that I knew I would never use. Put them up on eBay, gave buyer my Dividend Number and PIN and that was that. It was an account I didn't care about and wasn't going to use so the consequences really weren't a factor.

It was probably over 10 years ago that I sold 40k Delta skypesos for $600 to some mile liquidator in Canada. I didn't care to keep skypesos even back then.

Too little to sell. And I do hope to use my miles for a Business / First class travel someday.

No !!! Goes against all my efforts to build up my mileage/hotel accounts before the already devalued devaluations get devaluationated once again.

No. I have thought about offering an international award flight at a charity auction; it could be a great fund-raiser for a good cause at little cost to me. But I would be worried it would be construed as re-selling, plus the difficulty of explaining the bidders award availability limitations.

I have not done this but I have heard of people doing this. If you do this and get caught you could lose your money and your points!

The survey and the thread seem to be very specific to miles, excluding other instruments such as upgrade certificates, lounge passes, etc. Is this deliberate or an oversight? My understanding is that trade in upgrade certificates is almost as common as trade in mileage awards.

It's a fair question; it's an extremely ugly side of dealing with certain brokers that's, to my knowledge, never been discussed here.

I want to get permission from some of the latest folks to end up in trouble to reveal this disturbing, really screwed-up aspect of "broker transaction gone bad" to the folks here.

Needless to say, if anyone here got their account locked this week or this coming week and you have pressing questions about this, feel free to PM me, otherwise, I'll report back next week.

Prepare to be really angry and even more scared of EVER selling your AA miles.

I sold some RR, on Ebay, got a nasty letter from WN, not to do it anymore...

Ebay is bad about passing your selling and buying into on to airlines.

Gave quite a few away on the boards, about to expire.

My wife is Asian, so someone always needs a ticket for school or just a visit to the states.

Let's face it most of us who works has far more than we needed..

Easy way to get rich is .....not to spend all you make.

Life is good down on the farm...
