Any experiences of which to tell?
Don't know answer to your question, but am curious about your avatar. Is it Strasbourg or Colmar?
It is neither. It is Annecy.
I looked into this program about six months ago when I was thinking about buying a car. The price they offer is fair, but not cheap given you are willing to put some time and effort in looking for deals and bargaining with the dealers. But it definitely saves you a lot of time.
Thanks. They look so similar...
I just purchased a BMW 535xi for $1275 under invoice price through the program. Best deal I found considering the car just came out 5 months ago.
Did you use the card to fund the purchase as a way of earning points?
I used the Amex Auto Purchase Program back in 2009 when I was buying a Lexus IS250, It ended up being a great option for me as the Lexus dealerships in Columbus were unwilling to work with me on price. I was able to find a dealership near Chicago through the program and even after the one way plane ticket and a night on Michigan Ave., I saved somewhere aroung $1500. I ended up not funding any of the purchase with my card (I was very happy with the low interest rate I got on the loan) but had the option of using it for up to a $3000 down payment.
Overall I was very happy using the program. The whole process was streamlined and quick and was ultimately one of the easiest car buying experiences I have been part of.
AND, I gather you enjoyed some frequent flyer points...
