Hit 1M. Your thoughts on the choice? I want a lightweight, small, durable carry-on with several pockets and flexible use.

Am I right that the Tumi's are to large for regionals and will require plane side checking?
I also realize that every company measures differently- I've compared 19" and 22" from different brands side by side and the 19" were taller. (I believe Tumi includes the wheels in their measurements, not sure about Hartmann). I'm not sure these weights are correct.

    Hartmann:
    Intensity 20" Expandable Mobile Traveler 21" x 13.5" x 8.5" (expands to 10.5), 12 lbs ??
    Intensity 20" Mobile Traveler Spinner 20" x 13.5" x 8", 9.5 lbs

    Tumi:
    Alpha Continental Carry-On 22" x 16" x 9" (expands to 11"), 9.5 lbs
    Vapor International Carry-On 22" x 14" x 9", 7.2 lbs
    Tegra Lite International Carry-On, 22 x 14 x 9, 8.3 lbs

Congratulations, I will probably never hit that.
Even assuming I travel and do MR like now, it would still take another 15-20 years for me to hit 1,000,000 MQM.

I found a long thread on TOBB, advice was to go to a luggage store that carries them and check them out in person. Haven't had a chance to do that yet.

Also, a couple people there said they were able to work something with the store manager to order one, then trade it for something else in store inventory. That could be a good option.

I ended up with a 20" Hartman infinity. It's much nicer than I expected, although a bit heavy at 9 lbs. The Tumi's are just too large and heavy for my usage.

I spoke with a very good luggage store, but they are not interested in trade. These are all three or four year old models, it looks like DL got a large stockpile some years back, and the newer models are much nicer, so the stores coudn't resell these.

I considered waiting a few months to see if DL depletes their stock and brings in something new, but realized that if they do, they will "enhance" the offerings, and we all know what happens any time anything in the skymile program gets enhanced. :)

TUMI is showing up at the local Norstrom Rack, 50% off,

Wish I had waited, but the models I purchased are on display.
