    || Harrods hotels planned for key cities ||

I just remember that the Langham Hotel London had some Harrods themed rooms in an earlier time. This is great news. Shopping Harrods, Living Harrods.:)

What a ridiculous example of cross branding.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Can't say that I'd probably stay at one as they would probably be a small fortune per night though.

Indeed, a very interesting concept and idea. We will see when the first hotel opens what is behind the new Harrods hotel chain beside the obvious affiliation with the Harrods London store brand. Regarding the overnight rates, I would say, in each location the chain opens up, they will be in the top bracket, but having said this, KL will be more affordable than let's say NYC, Paris, London etc. It's wait and see for the moment, it only shows that many new brand extensions can be still be created in the hotel / lifestyle market and yes, there is a demand for it, because nothing fascinates people usually more than the possibility than to partake of a certain lifestyle and the promise to indulge into something unique.

When I first read this, I thought it was Harrah's hotels! A hotel chain named after a department store, what a brilliant concept. Wonder if it will be upstaged by Tiffany's hotels.

It would be nice if they gave Harrod's teddy bears as amenities! )

There are already Bulgari hotels. And isn't there an Armani hotel, perhaps in Milan?

There's a Hershey (chocolate) hotel in Hershey PA. It does chocolate treatments in the spa. However it's not luxury.

Bulgari hotels are managed by Marriott.

Armani hotels are in both Milano and Dubai at the moment- I have not heard good reports from either one.

At least Armani designs their own furniture and interior design through Armani casa so it is not nearly the stretch that Bulgari is. Ferragamo owns hotels in Roma and also in Firenze- but they don't really promote the connection that strongly. Villa Feltrinelli on Lago di Garda which is very highly regarded on the luxury forums is owned and operated by the Feltrinelli family who are very well known for their making of paper, stationery, and related products (including gorgeous leather portfolios).

Let's add the Versace mansion in Miami South Beach to the list.

IIRC it is no longer owned nor operated by the family nor the holding/fashion companies. I think it is an american REIT- although this could be incorrect information. The "Versace" name dates from when the founder lived there and used it as a private house.
