The Denver Post reports that a man on his way to Kansas City placed an undeclared handgun in his luggage, prompting officers to investigate and discharge the gun at the airport early Sunday morning. The passenger did not try to take the handgun through security in an unchecked bag. The incident happened at about 6:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Police discharged the handgun into a cement-lined barrel designed for the purpose. No one was injured. Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray told the newspaper the passenger will not be charged. Safety regulations allow some people to check guns onto airplanes if they declare them.
