I took this photo on a trip....
Anyone know where ?
Someone suggested a game....
so here is a traveller's game... guess where ?
How about Quito, Ecuador?
Sorry not the place I photographed
how about mine?
Salzburg? Karlovy Vary?
Mine is quite easy. Taken at flight level 580.
Cusco? Or maybe La Paz?
In that case I expect it's in the Alps somewhere ... but I don't know the cities well enough to guess!
Pure guess I would say possibly Bozen/Bolzano Italy or Meran/Merano Italy. It looks very Sud Tyrol to me.
I consider this place the most beautiful place in the world.....and I have travelled a lot.
I'll just have to wait now for someone else to figure it out!
Ok.... I am now determined to figure this out. It beats doing the stuff i should be doing at work. Have to be at work today as i have been too busy with "outside" activites for teh past few days.
What I think I know... The photo is taken somewhere in Europe. Now that I know it isn't South Tyrol I have a couple of other ideas. Need to see how good our photo recognition software is.....
It is not in Europe....
And not in South America (milchap already said as much). Sure doesn't look like Africa. The European-style buildings don't seem to fit into Asia but maybe I'm wrong on that. Especially since I can't think of a place like that in North America, either.
What continents am I missing? Ocenia and Antarctica?
A hint.... It is a photo of an extremely famous landmark....perhaps you have not been there...but surely someone will recognize it.
Is there any way to blow up the image so that I can see details?
Is it Table Mountain in Cape Town?
It is indeed Table Mountain in Cape Town. The photo was taken from the balcony of my hotel on a day when the mountain was covered with a white cloud. The building below in the foreground is the South African Museum and Planetarium.
Well done. Nice piece of detective work.
Ah ... the clouds hide the distinctive shape of the mountain. Nice photo, though, and I agree it's a beautiful city!
I have been twice to Cape Town. Both times for a week; in the period of 14 days, I managed to have six days of clear view of the mountain. The photo was taken on a day when the clouds were remarkable. You had to be quick to take your photo as the clouds were continually moving across the top.
Cape Town and Rio are my favorite cities in the world for landscape beauty. Unfortunately, both cities have slums...the townships and the favellas.
