This is the happiest day of my life, now to make the second happiest day of my life depends on when AA will launch GIG - LAX.

Now KE will inevitably end up in a fare war with AA and the big losers will be DL fliers who can't MR on KE :(

Yes good news as my best friend is in SP and I am on the west coast but 12 hrs in a plane is still torturous

I much prefer the 12 hour flights to connections. Further, as long as one has a flat bed the trips are often pleasant. The majority of my flights are between 8 and 13 hours, so that is my norm. Nonstops are delightful IMHO. I used to take the Singapore nonstops SIN-EWR and loved them too, 20-22 hours was very long, but much preferable to connections and/or technical stops. I know YMMV. Eloy, for example seems to like taking the short hop RIO-GRU in order to get better aircraft and international F. I will do almost anything to avoid connections so I miss out on 77W, and AA F entirely. Oh well, at least I'll have AA flat beds next year, sooner if the merger goes through since the US A330's already have quite nice ones.

Plus you can get there early and leave late, enjoying more the time of visit! Yes, but I only do GIG - GRU outbound, since it's a hassle to arrive internationaly in GRU with bags and transfer to GIG. I'm hoping AA will launch GIG - LAX before the olympics! That would be awesome!
