    Hi All,

Heading to Australia in July and looking for recommendations on a good company to snorkel with on the Great Barrier Reef leaving from the Cairns area. Would love to hear if you had a good experience or even to who avoid if you didn't.

    Thanks!

    Chris

About 2 years ago I used this company. http://www.oceanfreedom.com.au/

My friends and I did the Upolu Cay Reef Dive/Snorkel and we were pleased with them. Somewhat of a party atmosphere while going to and from the reef but there were areas of the boat where that wasn't going on if that's not your scene.

We did a ride out to Green Island via Viator. It was okay, The reef close in as only okay. We decided to spring for an hour snorkel about 1km off Green Island with a short boat ride out, and THAT rocked. There were a number of sea mounts of coral so you could swim up and down them. And unlike close in they were not raked over by the tides.

If you go further down the coast, we had an amazing 3 days two nights in the Whitsundays on a sailing boat, summertime : http://www.summertime-whitsundays.com/

Snorkeled with Sea Turtles and fish and amazing reefs.

Oh and if you do fly from CNS down to HTI i recommend using Avios.

$307 for the direct flight, 4500 avios each way. Pretty good cpm for economy ;)
