Google's Tourism Heat Map

    Ran across this article and thought it was pretty interesting. Looks like Google used some datas to overlay a "heat" map over the globe to show where the world's most visited tourist locations are situated. No surprise - large urban areas and particularly the entire continent of Europe is on fire. Personally I'd probably prefer to visit some of those "colder" areas.

    The string of light areas along the southern Appalachians is interesting to me. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountain National Park really draw quite a lot of tourism to that part of the country, and with good reason. It's a stunning area.

    Also interesting is how noticeable to the ski and lake effect has in Europe. The Alpine region appears to be a solid block of high tourism.
