The 747 is probably the airframe I've spent the most inflight hours on!
    Sad.

The HNL-NRT flight JL075 is now enroute. Estimated arrival time is 13:00. You can always track the flight status on JAL website or other flight tracking sites like flightstats, etc.

Have you flown on JAL's 747 before?

  14. It might be a bit outdated, but I liked it. Reminds me of happier times.

And JAL's 744's are actually really well maintained and have lots of cycles remains. I agree that they really remind me of all the happy times flying on them :)

Mainichi has a nice article on JAL's 747 and a brief background of the 747 orders

Below are the final arrival time of the last two JAL 747 flights. The domestic flight landed three minutes behind schedule and the HNL flight landed 23 min early. So the OKA-NRT JL3098 is officially the last JAL 747 flight.

Gone amazingly quickly - I remember when 5 or 6 JL (and allied) 747s were de rigeur at HNL! We'll be seeing some of those whales elsewhere, some converted to freight dogs, I'm sure.

Anyone remember the "classic" -146 and especially the -146SR?

I'm really going to miss the JAL 744. I remember flying this bird LAX - NRT in the 90s. I wish I could see them live in this new revised livery... i.e. the old old beautiful crane livery one more time.

Sadly that's not going to happen.
