    Goodbye Delta Gold Elite Status! Today is my last day as a Delta Airlines Gold Medallion elite, I gave up on Delta after moving to Washington, D.C. for several reasons, the final push came when the Skymiles program became revenue based. And when I say that, I don’t mean when they implemented the MQDs, I’m okay with that, but I’m not okay with earning 8 miles per $1 USD. Five reasons why I divorced Delta: Non-stop flights between DCA and MIA; Earning miles is more fair; Better upgrade success rate; Better award flight availability; and Better small business program. I’ve been pretty happy with my Executive Platinum status on American, and yes, I know I can’t compare AA EXP to DL Gold but American just fits my travel needs a lot better. I’m not discounting that American will eventually cave in and adopt a program like United and Delta, but I can remain hopeful that they won’t, and if they do, I’ll probably ditch flying an airline exclusively and just fly whoever gets me from point A to B the cheapest.
