Well, thanks to the NHL lockout (this disaster makes the US govt look downright efficent) I didnt not requal gold in 2012. (A few weekend road trips to Dallas usually do the trick to top off in Nov and Dec) so I had to take action and upgrade my citi hilton card to the one that gives gold status. Oh well, I am now one of "those people". I guess $95 per year isnt to bad. No more hotel swtching to get more stays and with the free breakfast at HGI's will pay for itself in short order.

Now time to stark banking points for New Years eve next year someplace warm......hopfully

I hate "those people" -- I worked hard to get Gold by putting $20k spend on my HHonors Amex :D

Sad part is hilton is the one program i usually qual with days to spare. Oh well, they get my money either way, just this way i dont lose my gold bennies while getting up to 20 stays this year.

since you can get gold in 4 stays..... I would think that is almost as easy as running the card!!

How do you figure 4 stays? They just upped it from 16 to 20 this year.

Do your research, many ways to get Hilton gold in 4 stays(MVP. Calrson, just to mention a few),,,,,thats why the program is devalued. its alot of stays normally, but there are WAY to many short cuts....... I spend to many nights out there to do the research for you, but you can check. 4 stays or CC, your choice for fast track.

I contacted HH today. There is no current promotion to fast track to Diamond.... Too early in the year I guess....

I did it the hard way as none of the easy stays were available to me. Sigh.

but the 20k points may have more value elsewhere, for example one of the Delta cards.

Unfortunately she has earned me points on several credit cards. She also saves me a fortune every time she shops. I wish I could save a bit less.
