I wish there was a way where I could use my miles to buy my mother a ticket to visit me. I don't believe this is possible other than to gift the miles to her. i checked it out and US Air charges $500 to gift 50,000 miles.

My question is, WHO DOES THIS?

Who would want to spend $500 to give 50,000 to someone. I don't get it.

    Someone enlighten me, please!

Just book the award using your miles in her name. It really is that simple.

Doh! Really? I never knew that was possible....what's to stop someone from somehow stealing someones FF# and password and start buying flights?

    Party foul on my part!

The password? Just like any other account with single-factor authentication.

An email will be generated for the transaction, of course. Assuming that an email (to the old account) is also generated for any email address change then you should at least be notified if someone is tampering with your account, even if they change the email address to their own.
