Yikes. Competition. In the airline industry. Norwegian air with flights to the Caribbean. United is charging $800 or more on some routes. Norwegian is charging $138. Hmm Now that the United Frequent Flyer program is worthless for most, wonder what people will choose. A lot of evidence the majors are in a predatory dirty war with Norwegian. The airlines basically have colluded to make travel to the Caribbean for the rich only. The biggest consumer failure of this administration was rolling over to allow these "beneficial"mergers which sure have made some investors gleeful indeed. Happy holidays to the hedge funds and the airline lobbyists from the Obama Administration and both parties of both houses. Thanks for making air travel one painful and expensive labyrinthe of hassles especially during the holidays. Honestly, has air travel ever been worse?

The unbridled greed and collapse of real competition has resulted in the airlines being the most hated industry in America.(sharing the bottom with comcast) United didn't have to degrade their product scores of different ways. They didn't have to end their frequent flyer programs for most people. they didnt have to create expiry dates. they didn't have to raise award levels. They didn't have to eliminate meals. They didn't have to close clubs and hubs and jam people into overcrowded hubs. they didn't have to have a toilet sized for a 12 year old. They don't have to charge nearly $900 for winter coach travel to Europe or for a three hour fight to the Caribbean. They could schedule flights, connections and aircraft for passenger convenience, not their need to jam the planes They expect patience from us for their screwups and foul service caused by their greed (like the 45 minute boarding process). No wavers, no favors is their ethos, quarterly profit is their myopia. they can do this because they are a cartel. At the first sight of real competition, not Southworst or Spirit, but real competition, all but the pampered few will truly choose-and no one will do business with a company profiting from making travel an ordeal I can assure those who apologize and make excuses for the majors it won't be pretty.
