    Hi,

Does anyone have any must see things that I may overlook touring around Ghana? I'm planning to go Accra -- Tamale -- Mole -- Kumasi -- Elmina -- Accra. All by public ground transport...it's about 900 miles in two weeks.

    Thanks!

It really depends on what you like to see...

I would say the major sites are:

    1. the stilt village Nzulezu on the border of Cote d'Ivoire (UNESCO World Heritage tentative list site)
    2. Elmina and Cape Coast castles (World Heritage sites)
    3. Mole National Park (for the elephants and monkeys, and nearby Hippo sanctuary and Larabanga mosque)
    4. Kakum National Park ("rain" forest, with nice canopy walk)

    Lesser sites are:

    1. Asantehene house in Kumasi (some historical info about the Kumasi chiefs and the history of Ghana)
    2. Makola Market in Accra (for the African market experience, if you've never done it)
    3. Akosombo Dam and Lake Volta (largest man-made reservoir by surface area). Monkey sanctuary near there.
